Janwaar Castle is a learning camp with a skatepark at its core. It's a social experiment and the goal is to transform the village of Janwaar into a wealthier and more prosperous place.

First of February 2017 was the due day. The first homestay in Janwaar opened its doors. Now our guests from all over India and abroad can enjoy village life to the fullest – if they feel like. It wasn’t difficult to make the villagers understand the concept of a homestay. Quickly they were ready to invest and host our guests, now their guests.

Each homestay family has bought a brand new charpie, a mattress, a blanket, two-bed sheets, a pillow and two towels. Total costs INR 4,000. These costs – depending on the family’s situation – are partially funded by the families themselves or by a micro loan provided by us. We provide the loan without any interest and every time a guest is checking in, the income will be shared 50:50 between the family and us until the loan is paid back. After that 100 % will remain with the homestay family.

Very officially we signed a little contract on that 🙂

We believe that it is an important part of our philosophy that just like we gave the skate park into the self-organization to the kids – the homestay families by themselves create the environment they want to offer and grow as they go. In this case even with some financially. We as Janwaar Castle guide them, we don’t benefit from the economic outcome. From the village, for the village. Village experience not for sale but at its best 🙂

Before the first guest, Adam, a skateboarder from London, UK, arrived we registered Janwaar village as a homestay place at the FRRO office in Panna. The SP and his team were of great help – they guided us through the entire process. Now everytime a foreigner arrives we will fill out a C-Form.
